Through capital grants, we help nonprofits fulfill their missions by providing support for durable, capital improvements.
Who We Fund
We make capital grants to social service, academic enrichment, youth development, arts, and environmental nonprofit organizations.
We help build the capacity of nonprofits that provide direct services to: disadvantaged children and youth (ages 0 to 24), low-income families with children, and people with disabilities. We also support K-12 schools exclusively serving children with learning differences.
What We Fund
We will fund any contracted labor directly associated with the project.
Grants to purchase durable items such as musical instruments, tools, and appliances.
We prioritize equipment purchases that will be used by program participants.
We prioritize vehicle purchases that transport participants.
Where We Fund
Grants are only made to organizations serving residents of San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, and San Mateo counties.
Application Information
Deadlines
Applications are accepted three times a year during specific submission windows, which occur approximately three months before the board meetings. Applications are due by 5:00 pm on the final day of the submission period.

July 22 – August 2, 2024

Important details
Applications may only be submitted during the dates listed. The New Proposal icon will NOT appear until the submission window is open. Do not attempt to submit an application prior to the submission start date or you might lose your work.

In preparation for submitting your application, we advise you to use the PDF overview to prepare your answers in advance of the submission period. We encourage you to compose the proposal in Microsoft Word/Google document and, once it is ready, copy and paste content directly into the foundation’s online application.
